Prohibited and restricted items

Downswing is for genuine golf equipment, honestly described. A short list of what you can’t list, and what you must disclose if you do.

Prohibited: never allowed

  • Counterfeits and replicas. Any club, ball, bag, apparel or accessory that imitates a brand it was not made by, including “tour issue” claims that cannot be backed up and clones sold under a real brand’s name. Confirmed counterfeits are removed, the buyer is refunded in full and the seller is banned.
  • Stolen goods, including demo and fitting-cart clubs that were not purchased, and items with serial numbers removed or defaced.
  • Unauthorized retailer stock. Sealed current-season product in bulk from unauthorized channels. Golfers selling their own gear is what we are for; grey-market distribution is not.
  • Anything that isn’t golf. Firearms, alcohol, tobacco, drugs and medical devices, however nice the golf-themed packaging.
  • Digital goods and services: lessons, simulator subscriptions, software licences, handicap services.
  • Listings that aren’t sales: wanted ads, raffles, “message me for price,” links to other marketplaces.

Restricted: allowed with disclosure

ItemWhat you must say
Non-conforming clubsDrivers over the COR / CT limit, wedges with non-conforming grooves, oversized or weighted putters, “illegal” distance aids. State “non-conforming” in the title and description. Fine for practice and casual play; not for competition.
Non-conforming or X-out golf ballsLabel X-outs, practice stamps and logo overruns in the ball grade field. Refurbished or refinished balls must be described as such.
Refinished, re-plated or repainted clubsDisclose the refinish and who did it. Grade the current state per the condition guide.
Modified clubsBent lofts or lies, shortened or extended shafts, added weight, hot-melt, re-shafts. List the current spec, not the original.
Tour issue and prototype equipmentOnly with serial numbers, stamps or provenance photographed. “Tour issue” without evidence is removed.
Components and heads onlySay exactly what is included: adapter, screw, weights, headcover. A head with no adapter is a head with no adapter.
Autographed and collectible itemsProvenance or certificate photographed. Autographs without evidence are listed as “unverified.”
Rangefinders and GPS devicesNote whether slope is enabled and any subscription state. Account-locked devices cannot be listed.
Launch monitorsDisclose subscription requirements and whether the unit is deregistered from the previous owner’s account.

Listing conduct

  • Photos must be of the actual item. Stock photos can be added, but the first photo is yours.
  • Titles describe the item. Keyword stuffing (“Scotty Cameron Odyssey Ping putter”) is removed.
  • No contact details, external links or “cheaper off-site” in listings or messages.
  • One listing per item. Duplicates are merged or removed.
What happens if you break the rules

First time, usually a warning and the listing removed. Counterfeits, stolen goods and off-site payment attempts skip the warning. Buyers affected are always covered under buyer protection.

Reporting

Every listing has a Report button. Pick the reason (counterfeit, prohibited, misleading, off-site, harassment, spam) and add a note. Reports go to a person, not a filter, and reporters stay anonymous to the seller.
